The club are holding a BBQ on 7 august. And since the Men have an Argetnian coach, Lois Arola, he is going to arrange it Argentinian style!!

The cost will be £5 per head.
The food will be available after the completion of the 1st XV game (v Perthsire); so either come doen to watch and you'll eventually find that a steak will become available. Or come down at 6pm and join in the fun.

6 Current Ladies in Womens RWC Squad |
A squad of 26 has been announced to participate in this year's Women's Rugby World Cup, to be held during August and September in Surrey.
6 current Murrayfield Wanderers players have made the squad (Beth Dickens, Katy Green, Louise Moffat, Sarah Gill, Ruth Slaven & Tess Forsberg) with 4 other ex-wandies now plying their trade in England also included (Erin Kerr, Lindsey Wheeler, Lucy Millard & Lynsey Douglas) - special congratulations on her 1st time inclusion to Tess, here's hoping for another Wandies Capped player to add to the list.
The squad is a mix of experienced campaigners - including Scotland's most capped rugby player, Donna Kennedy (110 caps) - and relatively new faces.
Scotland head coach, Gary Parker, said: "There was a lot of debate and much time taken to make sure we got the squad right.
"One or two new players have earned selection, adding to the already intense competition for places. We were really keen for versatility behind the scrum - when you're limited to a small squad you're looking for those who can play two or three positions."
Following two Test matches against South Africa, earlier this month, and this season's Six Nations fixtures, Parker has been happy with progress and the increased strength in depth of the potential squad.
He said: "Katy Green, for example, played really well against South Africa. She's been training very hard and I'm full of admiration for her work ethic. And Suzi Newton is back after a long-term injury - she's a quality international player."
Scotland Women take on Ireland in a non-cap encounter on Sunday 18 July (at Lasswade, kick-off 1pm, entry free) as final preparation for the World Cup and pool encounters with France, Sweden and Canada.
Parker added: "It's going to be a huge ask against these teams, with France and Canada in the top six in the world.
"We may have beaten France earlier this year but that means nothing now. In my playing days, I was fortunate to be part of an under-19 side that beat France - three months later, we played them in the World Cup and lost 69-0. What happened in February doesn't mean a thing!"

Coaching team beginning to take shape |
This may be the close season and most of the club is taking a break. But not the guys looking after the Men's Section!! They have been working hard to get our coaching team into position. So far they have in place:
Head Coach - Luis Arola (an experienced forwards coach brought up in Argentina)
Luis will be supported by :-
Rapina Rajia – backs coach (Fijian)
Ralph Farthing
Davy Young
James Bartolo
Stuart Dennis.
You can't say that they haven't scoured the world!!
In addition there are the various Youth coaches, of course.
The next step is to agree how these guys cover all the teams. So keep your eye on this website, or come to pre-season training.....

Helping Hand Award |
Annually the Helping hand Award is presented to a member who has gone "above and beyond" in doing something for the club. This year there were several nominations, and it proved to be quite difficult to make a final decision.
But after much arm-wrestling and debating, the Young family were recognised for their efforts in re-painting parts of the club: they volunteered themselves, and also arranged a group of them so that it became a social event for them too.
So can you think of a way of benefiting the club and having a few beers?!!

WELL DONE CUP WINNERS |
A great weekend for the club.
First the Ladies have won the League again!!. On Sunday morning they were lying in 3rd place, with RHC and Hillhead above them. Fortunately the 2 leaders were playing each other; it needed a close win by one of them, and a big win by our ladies in our last game. And then.........it all went to plan!!
It should great character and spirit; so very well done.
The ladies U15s won their shield game, 69-25 v Glasgow Cluster. (And the Ladies U18s narrowly lost in their shield final (39-45).
Our P6/P7 side won our own tournmament on Sunday.

Fantastic result |
Fantastic result by our 1sts on Saturday, v RHC. It had everything that we could want - unless you would have wanted a runaway victory!! Playing away , in a local derby, with a string of defeats behind us, and RHC having had a good run, allied with Easter meaning that we had many changes in the side, the omens were not great! But the side showed great character and commitment, resulting in us pulling back at the end and getting a great result.
We now stay in national One, and can build towards next season.
20-25, a win with a 4 try bonus point!
Very well done, lads! Enjoy the rest of the season.

Situations Vacant, ie we want YOU to volunteer! |
We are starting to look towards who is going to do what next season. As ever, we are looking to spread the load; so if you can do ANY task then please get in touch, eg web updates, kit stock, International tickets, etc.
However, we are looking specifically for the following positions to be filled:
Fixtures secretary (Men) - liaises with club and opposition and confirms match locations and KO times.
Referees secretary (Men) - liaises with SRU and confirms referees for all senior male inc U18 home fixtures.
Treasurer (Youth) - controls the accounts for the Youth section, taking subs and funds raised and re-imbursiong expenses.
Child Protection Officer (Youth) - ensures that all coaches have clearance from Disclosure Scotland, and is the focus for any parental/young person concern.
These jobs are all very important to us, but they really do not take up too much time. So please offer to help. For the Secretary posts, please contact Ewan Gillies; for the Youth posts, please contact one of the coaches.
